To improve account security, WildApricot has strengthened its password requirements and added the reCaptcha anti-spam feature to the login page and login gadget.
Password requirements
Valid passwords must adhere to the following requirements:
- 12 characters or more
- both upper and lower case letters
- at least one number
- at least one of the following special characters: #?!@$%^&*-
This policy will be applied to new administrators and new members once your account is updated to Version 7.27. Existing administrators will be prompted to change their passwords the next time they log in after their account is updated. Thereafter, administrators will be forced to change their passwords every 365 days.
Adding reCaptcha to login screens
The reCaptcha anti-spam feature has been added to the login page and login gadget to improve account security and reduce spam. As a result, theme files have changed.
If you've used theme overrides to modify the login page gadget or login form gadget, you need to rebuild your theme using the new version of the theme. To do so, follow these steps:
- Download a new version of the theme files from the Theme overrides screen.
- Merge your changes into the new files.
- Upload the modified theme files.
- Click Rebuild theme on the Theme overrides screen.
