Two-factor authentication (2FA) for admins

Overview

WildApricot offers an extra layer of protection for administrator access to your account with two-factor authentication (2FA).

The admin 2FA feature prompts your account's administrators to enter an emailed verification code before they can access the Admin view of your WildApricot account.

By default, this security measure is automatically enabled for all new accounts but is turned off for all existing accounts as of January 2024.

Clients with existing WildApricot accounts (activated prior to January 2024) can enable 2FA for their account by following the steps indicated below.

Note: Admin 2FA does not affect your non-admin users or members.

How to turn 2FA on

To enable 2FA for your account, select Settings from the admin sidebar menu, then select Two-factor authentication (2FA) under Global settings > Your account. Click the toggle to enable or disable 2FA for your admins.

What to expect

As an administrator for your WildApricot account, when you attempt to access the admin view, you will see a prompt to select a method of verification.

If you have entered a mobile phone number in your profile's Phone database field, you can choose whether to receive your verification code via email or via text (SMS) message.

Both verification methods will use the information you provided in the Contact details for your WildApricot profile.

FAQs

Will two-factor authentication be applied to members when they sign in on a WildApricot site?
No, members and other non-admin users will not be affected when 2FA is turned on. This feature only affects admin users.

Can I specify an email to be used instead of my WildApricot account email?
No, we will only send the verification code to the email address associated with your WildApricot account.

Troubleshooting

If you're unable to log in with 2FA, follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check your email's spam, promotions, or junk folder.
  2. Verify the accuracy of the mobile phone number provided in the primary Phone field of your profile.
  3. Verify that the email address listed in your admin Contact details is correct.
  4. If your email is correct, but you're still not receiving the verification code, contact Support.
