Do I need to obtain consent to send text messages

        

According to US law (The Telephone Consumer Protection Act), organizations have to get explicit consent to send text messages. 

However, there is an important side note that tax-exempt nonprofit organizations are exempt from the opt-in and “do-not-call” requirements of the TCPA.
